This was a question posed to me by one of my readers from my other blog, A Damsel No Longer in Distress.
Since this Bible study site pertains to all matters regarding what is or isn't biblical in marriage, I saw it fitting to share this article with all of you as well.

5 spoke with grace:
I see most people take verses to prove their own points or ideas. Why dont we ever mention God divorced Israel at one point. Later changed His mind . Likewise, in Jeremiah 3:8 we read:
And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.
To be clear my point is not adultery because if you even "think" thoughts about another than your spouse you already did it , you already committed adultery so who hasnt ??? My point was GOD Himself divorced...
Hello Anonymous :-)
To be sure we are always taking the log out of our own eyes before attempting to take the speck out of another's, I choose to impart grace to those you speak of that do this.
I think we can agree that none of us is perfect and none of us know and understand the entire Bible, and most of us haven't even read the entire Bible yet (like me).
So I think people don't mention Jeremiah 3:8 or Isaiah 50:1 because they just may not know about those passages of Scripture. I sure didn't until one of my readers asked me this question and I began to prayerfully and thoroughly research God's word on this.
God reveals some things to some people and not to others. And perhaps He had not chosen to reveal these passages to those other people you are speaking of and perhaps that's one of the reasons why He had one of my readers ask this question. :-)
Isn't our God wonderful? In this way, no man (or woman) can boast, because none of us know it all...instead, we all need each other and we all need to love/serve one another with all love and humility in Christ.
I hope this helps you dear friend. :-)
Your sister,
Sunny
